Counselling Services for individuals across SW London

Life can sometimes feel overwhelming, confusing, or simply too much to manage on your own. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, low mood, difficulties in relationships, or pressures at work, counselling can provide the space to pause, reflect, and begin to make sense of what you are going through.

I offer a safe, supportive, and confidential environment. My approach is neuro-affirmative, meaning I value and respect the different ways people think, feel, and experience the world. I work collaboratively, tailoring each session to your needs, and providing warmth, understanding, and encouragement along the way.

Whatever your issues, I am dedicated to supporting you through life's challenges, helping you build resilience, gain self-awareness, re-balance your life, and form healthier relationships.

I offer a free 30-minute consultation where we can have a chat about, and ask any questions you may have. If you'd like to proceed, we can arrange to meet in weekly 50-minute sessions.

How I Can Help You
I offer a compassionate, non-judgemental space where you can freely express your thoughts and feelings. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, a sense of loss or guilt, or low mood, struggling with intrusive thoughts or impuslive behaviours, or simply seeking personal growth, my approach will be tailored to meet your unique needs.

My Approach
I work in an integrative psychodynamic/person-centred way, but in addition draw from a range of therapeutic techniques, including CBT, and Existential therapy. You are at the centre of this, I ensure our work together is collaborative and supportive. My goal is to empower you with insights and coping strategies that can bring balance, healing, and resilience into your life.

Anxiety

Anxiety can manifest in many forms—racing thoughts, constant worry, sweating, panic attacks, or physical symptoms like tension and fatigue. While it’s a natural response to stress, for many, anxiety becomes overwhelming and disruptive.

I specialise in helping clients manage anxiety, whether it’s generalised, social, or triggered by specific life challenges. I use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to determine what your anxieties are, identify the avoidance strategies that you deploy, consciously or otherwise, and develop alternative narratives which allow you to manage or eliminate these anxieties, developing in the process practical tools to regain control. Through a supportive, collaborative approach, I aim to help you reduce anxiety’s hold on your life and restore a sense of calm and balance. My blog post here gives an insight into how anxiety manifests in the brain, how it can spiral out of control, and why CBT, combined with ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention) therapy is effective at managing it.

Anger Management

I work with individuals struggling with anger that can feel overwhelming or difficult to control, particularly when it leads to shame or regret afterwards. Together, we explore the triggers and underlying emotions behind your anger, helping you understand patterns that may be sabotaging relationships or professional life. Using a combination of CBT techniques and psychodynamic exploration, I support you in developing practical strategies to manage your responses, express yourself more constructively, and rebuild confidence in your interactions with others. My blog post here gives an insight into how anger can be processed and brought under control through therapy

Free initial consultation
I offer a free 30-minute consultation, either by phone, online, or face-to-face at offices in Battersea (near Clapham Junction), or Clapham (just off the High Street). There is no commitment, it’s important that you are comfortable with embarking on therapy, and that you are confident that I am the right therapist for you.

If you're ready to take the next step, use the button below and fill in the online form to contact me for a free consultation, or alternatively email me at piers.hadman@grove-counselling.com.  Together, we can explore what’s holding you back and find the tools you need to move forward.
